A trek through sacred, cultural, and naturally stunning regions of Nepal
This popular 16-day Langtang Gosaikunda Hellambu Trek will lead us through the sacred Langtang Valley. This region is steeped in the traditions of not only the indigenous Nepali people, but also is considered a sacred area of Buddhists and Hindus. The legend that prevails in this area is that a Lama, a Buddhist Monk, stumbled upon a beautiful, serene valley while searching for his runaway yak. He named the area Langtang Valley.
The Langtang Valley is located within the beautiful, scenic Langtang National Park, north of Kathmandu, which was established in 1976 as the first Himalayan National Park. Our trek will lead us to Gosaikunda Lake (4,380 m/14,370 ft), which is where it is believed the Hindu God, Lord Shiva, created this beautiful, mountain lake. There is a very popular Janai Purnima Full Moon Festival held each August at Gosaikunda Lake. We will trek the same Langtang Valley area with its many quaint villages and breathtaking mountain views.
Walking through forests of beautiful Rhododendrons, visiting and experiencing the culture of the local Tamang people, marveling at the incredible Himalayan views, it is a trekker's paradise.
