The Langtang Heritage Trek was designed in response to trekkers who want to experience the beautiful and exquisite cultures of Nepal. Our trek begins with a picturesque drive to Syabrubesi, a beautiful, small village near the Langtang River (Bhote Koshi). This region is steeped in the traditions of not only the indigenous Nepali people, but also is considered a sacred area of Buddhists and Hindus.
The legend that prevails in this area is that a Lama, a Buddhist Monk, stumbled upon a beautiful, serene valley while searching for his runaway yak. He named the area Langtang Valley. Lang, meaning 'yak,' and tang, meaning 'follow.' Langtang Valley is located within the beautiful, scenic Langtang National Park, north of Kathmandu, which was established in 1976 as the first Himalayan National Park. It is one of Nepal's treasures.
Our trek will lead us into the Ganesh Himal range and into the village of Ghatlang, also known as the 'Black Village.' This village has retained its ancient, Tamang culture. There are many villages on our trek that are rich in history and culture, which makes this trekking adventure so incredible. It offers a wonderful opportunity to experience these cultures firsthand within the panorama of the exquisite Himalayas.
